Vitaly works on the part of a criminal case that most defendants only think about after they have lost: what the record will look like to an appeal court. Objections that were never made at trial cannot be raised later, and a verdict that goes unchallenged on a specific point becomes unchallengeable. Much of his work therefore begins before the first-instance hearing is over.
His practice covers appeals within the 15-day window, continuous and selective cassation, and complaints to the Supreme Court. He is the person in the firm who reads a verdict and says plainly whether there is something to work with — including when the answer is that there is not.
